48. ALIHA GIRI

The latest member of the Lhaviyani Dive Site List, AliHa Giri has been well worth waiting for! The shallow reef, which is sheltered from strong current offers stunning hard and soft coral growth and an abundance of fish life.


AliHa Giri has steep sloping sides, which drop down to a sandy bottom at 18m. These sides are full with table corals which are full with different types of antheas. Small overhangs are full with glass fish and moray eels can also be found. As you come up onto the top reef, the full beauty of AliHa can be appreciated as the table corals mix with stag horn corals, and in amongst this leather corals are blooming adding even more colour to the reef. Fusiliers and trevallies fight over the space on the top reef, which is also home to nurse sharks and hawksbill turtles.
